Seijinshiki !

I had a privilege to capture another special celebration for this family. Seijinshiki in Japanese means the celebration for the youth to become coming-of-age stage. It is important tradition to dress up with Kimono to declare the achievement. I am so glad to see everyone’s happy faces ! I am very happy for all as well ! Haori Hakama style is really stunning ! Again, we were very careful about infection control and wore masks most of the time. (all the time for me) Images with masks should be laughable past soon …

Coming-of-Age-Day

In Japan, people becoming age twenty celebrate with traditional kimono in January. Here in Ottawa at CorgiMark studio, we can celebrate with kimono portraits session together with all happy family ! I am thrilled to be able to capture this youngster’s special day. I really like the creative idea of the clients for taking photos with his favorite things !

Under COVID situations, we were very careful during the session although it took place last year before semi-lock-down. I hope someday in the near future we all can laugh about the images with masks…

Celebrating milestone !

I feel truly honored to be able to capture this family’s milestone portraits ! All members are celebrating their achievements in year 2021. I am so happy for all. As the session took place in the last Christmas season, we tried with some festive decorations as well.

During the session I usually ask the family to start with serious, then turn to funny. I really like the funny part because they all look so happy and joyful !

Festive Family

I am so happy to see the family celebrated this festive season with their cute “furmily” member again at CorgiMark studio ! Everyone’s bright smile enlighten the cold December evening. Thank you for all the joy you brought !

Cartwright Springs Brewery

In the beautiful nature of Pakenham Ontario, the session started with warm welcome by the owner and family. Cartwright Springs Brewery is surrounded by gorgeous autumn colors and fun filled walk paths. We walked in the woods and climbed the hill to capture the joyful moments and the images turned wonderful ! I am so happy to see everyone’s bright smile !

Cartwright Springs is definitely worth visiting. Next time I would like to bring my husband, dogs, and friends ! For more info check here.

Shichigosan boy samurai !

I had an amazing time during the session with highly spirited family ! Five year boy celebrating with traditional kimono with samurai sword (toy) and Mito Komon INRO was very unique and I could not stop smiling for remembering the very famous TV show in Japan. Thanks for the wonderful energy !!

Furisode Rock Climbing !

This session was epic !!! Really epic ! I am excited to announce that I am the first in the world (maybe ? hopefully ?)) a photographer who captured a rock climber in Furiside, the formal Japanese Kimono ! Who said Kimono is not for active people ? Rules are made to be broken !

This Furisode girl celebrated her 20th year Seijinshiki event at her favorite rock climbing location while actually climbing the rock ! Her passion about the rock climbing brightened up the mood and made everyone so joyful ! I truly enjoyed and honored to share this adventure with the happy family.

Special thanks to her mother who prepared the beautiful bouquets and courage, to Miho Kobayashi who provided beautiful hair styling, and the family’s friend who gave stunning make-up.

Shichigosan girl and happy family

I had wonderful time capturing the cheerful Shichigosan girl and her family ! With her stunning smile, the kimono portraits completed amazingly gorgeous. I was so happy to hear everyone enjoyed the session as much as I did !

Thanks to Ayumi Buklin for beautiful hair styling and hand-crafted corsage.
