I am so grateful to have captured the magic of ‘Kotodama’ at @scrimsflorist! Being chosen to document this gorgeous pop-up show—where traditional art meets contemporary design—was an unforgettable experience.
This unique show is a collaboration presented by art collective “Asobu” and features stunning illustrations by Matt Miwa(@miwa.light.house), elegant Japanese calligraphy by Yukari Snyder (@calligraphy_ottawa), and is thoughtfully curated by Machiko Townson(@aritacafe).
Kotodama—the power of words beyond literal meaning—this exhibition uses calligraphy, lines, and forms to evoke personal memories and emotions. Set within Scrim’s, Ottawa’s oldest flower shop, the display pairs visual art with the subtle language of flowers. Together, they invite visitors to pause amid today’s constant information overload and reflect on the thoughts and feelings they choose to hold onto.
So thankful to be on this creative journey alongside such incredibly talented artists—and even luckier to call them my friends!
