OJCC’s reopening !

OJCC、Ottawa Japanese Culture Centre is officially back and better than ever! Our recent reopening event in October 2025 was a huge success, filled with celebratory spirit and excitement as we unveiled our incredible renovations.

They’ve completely revamped some key areas to make them even better for everyone. The biggest change are the brand-new appliances, new flooring, new washrooms, and new cabinets. As a long-time member of the organization, I’m thrilled to see these improvements and enjoyed photo-shooting at the event. I hope this new changes helps all the participants and encourage more community involvement.

Autumn Wedding

What an unforgettable day! I had the honour of photographing a stunning wedding held at the Britania yacht club by the Ottawa River. The scenery was breathtaking — brilliant water, elegant atmosphere, and a joyful energy that filled the air.

The wind was a bit strong that day, but it added a wonderful sense of movement — the bride’s kimono and long sleeves flowing gracefully in the breeze, creating truly magical moments.

One of the most special parts for me was seeing the bride wearing a traditional Japanese wedding kimono called a Shiromuku — and I had the privilege of dressing her myself. It was such a meaningful moment to blend tradition, culture, and photography together in one beautiful celebration.

I’m deeply thankful for the opportunity to capture this love story and to be part of such a heartfelt day. Congratulations to the lovely couple!

Special thanks : Venue – Britania Yacht Club, Hair styling – Miho at Hasami Salon, Makeup – Yuki, Flowers – Noriko Komatsuzaki, Flower accessories – Eiko Khouzam

BONFIRE Art Show

I’m thrilled to share my photos at “BONFIRE,” the Pop-Up Art Show at @scrimsflorist!
It is truly an honour to have been selected as the official photographer for this vibrant fusion of traditional and modern beauty.

This unique show is a collaboration presented by art collective “Asobu” and features stunning illustrations by Matt Miwa(@miwa.light.house), elegant Japanese calligraphy by Yukari Snyder (@calligraphy_ottawa), and is thoughtfully curated by Machiko Townson(@aritacafe). The project is generously supported by JCLS (Japanese Canadian Legacies @jclegacies)

I’m so grateful to be part of this creative journey—and so proud to call these talented artists my friends!

Iaido Competition 2025

I had a wonderful time capturing the 4th Annual Ottawa Iaido Taikai competition this July. Iaido, the art of Japanese swordsmanship, is a beautiful and disciplined form of performance rooted in centuries of tradition. It was inspiring to witness such grace, precision, and focus from every participant.

The 4th Annual Ottawa Iaido Taikai brings together competitors and judges from Ontario, Quebec, and upstate New York for a weekend of friendly yet intense Iaido competition. This year, the focus is on showcasing the lessons and philosophies of traditional Iaido schools, emphasizing the martial spirit in every performance.

Being part of this event not only allowed me to document powerful moments but also deepened my appreciation for this amazing aspect of Japanese culture. Thanks Tokushikai 篤志会 for this splendid opportunity!

Natsu Matsuri 2025

One of highlight of my summer was volunteering at Natsu Matsuri, the summer festival operated by the Ottawa Japanese Community Association. I was part of the kimono dressing team, helping with fundraising through cultural engagement. It was an amazing success! Despite the heat and intense sun, visitors were enthusiastic and excited to try on beautiful kimono and learn more about Japanese traditions. Seeing everyone’s smiles and hearing their kind words made the long day incredibly fulfilling.

These experiences reminded me how meaningful it is to stay connected — to the society, to culture, and to one another. I’m so grateful for these moments and for everyone who made them special.

Kyudo 弓道 June 21 and 22

I’m excited to share some recent photos of the successful Kyudo ( Japanese archery ) seminar.

The inaugural Ottawa Kyudo Seminar offers dedicated instruction from a senior Canadian Kyudo member with over 16 years of experience.

There was a great mix of experts and members, and it was filled with insightful discussions and meaningful connections. It was a truly enriching experience, and I’m so proud of being part of the amazing events.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

Singular Sensation !

I am pleased to share the poster I created for the musical “The Chorus Line” I performed in April 2025. The production was a resounding success, thanks to the exceptional efforts of our dedicated team of Lost Baggage Theatre and Wood Brass Parley Concert Ensemble. The performance was energetic, contributing to the overall brilliance ! I feel honoured to be part of such an excellent company.

Rock and Funk !

I’m so excited to share that we’ve been working hard for our band’s special event this Autumn. I’m really proud of what they’ve come up with, and I can’t wait to see everyone there! It’s going to be a blast, so mark your calendars and let’s make this a night to remember!

TOMONI GO TOGETHER 2024!

On Saturday November 16, I had an amazing time at TOMONI GO TOGETHER, the unique performance event for Japanese cultural artists collaborating with non-Japanese artists. I participated as a clarinet player of Ottawa Woodwind Project. My band collaborated with Japanese dancers Minyo-kai and the opener of the show ! I enjoyed taking some snap shots after my performance. I had an honour of participating this special event in many ways. Thanks you OJCA OJCC !
