Iaido Competition 2025

I had a wonderful time capturing the 4th Annual Ottawa Iaido Taikai competition this July. Iaido, the art of Japanese swordsmanship, is a beautiful and disciplined form of performance rooted in centuries of tradition. It was inspiring to witness such grace, precision, and focus from every participant.

The 4th Annual Ottawa Iaido Taikai brings together competitors and judges from Ontario, Quebec, and upstate New York for a weekend of friendly yet intense Iaido competition. This year, the focus is on showcasing the lessons and philosophies of traditional Iaido schools, emphasizing the martial spirit in every performance.

Being part of this event not only allowed me to document powerful moments but also deepened my appreciation for this amazing aspect of Japanese culture. Thanks Tokushikai 篤志会 for this splendid opportunity!

Natsu Matsuri 2025

One of highlight of my summer was volunteering at Natsu Matsuri, the summer festival operated by the Ottawa Japanese Community Association. I was part of the kimono dressing team, helping with fundraising through cultural engagement. It was an amazing success! Despite the heat and intense sun, visitors were enthusiastic and excited to try on beautiful kimono and learn more about Japanese traditions. Seeing everyone’s smiles and hearing their kind words made the long day incredibly fulfilling.

These experiences reminded me how meaningful it is to stay connected — to the society, to culture, and to one another. I’m so grateful for these moments and for everyone who made them special.

Kyudo 弓道 June 21 and 22

I’m excited to share some recent photos of the successful Kyudo ( Japanese archery ) seminar.

The inaugural Ottawa Kyudo Seminar offers dedicated instruction from a senior Canadian Kyudo member with over 16 years of experience.

There was a great mix of experts and members, and it was filled with insightful discussions and meaningful connections. It was a truly enriching experience, and I’m so proud of being part of the amazing events.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

The performance was energetic, contributing to the overall brilliance ! I feel honoured to be part of such an excellent company.
